Abstract
Diamonds and gemstones have always been in great demand to wear as per sonal adornment and to ward off evil influences and bring good luck. T he price of a gemstone is determined by its physical properties and it s rarity. This article describes some applications of modem solid-stat e physics to the enhancement of the value of diamonds, sapphires, rubi es, pearls and other gemstones.
