EVALUATION OF LAMINATED AND COEXTRUDED FILMS FOR PACKING POTABLE WATER

Laminated, and co-extruded plastic films such as paper/aluminium foil/ low density polyethylene, polyester/aluminium foil/low density polyeth ylene, metallised polyester high-low density polyethylene have been ev aluated for their suitability to pack potable water. Potable water pac ked in polyester/aluminium fail/low density polyethylene showed a mini mum increase in total. solids and total hardness, both of which were w ithin the permissible limits. No plastic odour or taste was observed i n the water sample packed, and a shelf life of 12 months was achieved.
