The effects of incorporating two commonly used types of antiwashout ad
mixtures (AWA), welan gum and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC), o
n properties of hardened concrete are investigated for mixes with wate
r-cement ratios (w/c) ranging between 0.30 and 0.60. Compressive stren
gth, flexural strength, and modulus of elasticity development up to 3
months, as well as bond with reinforcing steel, apparent chloride ion
permeability, and pore size distribution are evaluated.
