A very simple model which enables the easy magnetisation direction in
the R(3)(Fe, M)(29) compounds to be predicted is proposed. It is based
on the intermediate character of the Nd-3(Fe, Ti)(29) structure betwe
en the rhombohedral Th2Zn17-type and the tetragonal ThMn12-type ones.
The experimental results obtained by XRD on aligned powder are in agre
ement with the model.
