Abstract
We report three patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, whose first s ymptom was severe pruritus, similar to that observed in scrapie. The p ruritus was resistant to therapy. The underlying mechanisms are unclea r, but we speculate that the pruritus may result from brainstem involv ement.
