NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN PLANAR CHROMATOGRAPHY

Considerable progress has been made in thin-layer chromatography (TLC) since the lost review of this field in ''Column Watch'' (1). TLC shou ld no longer be considered a nonquantitative, low-resolution technique , reproducible and sensitive determinations can routinely be obtained using densitometry. Much of TLC is now automated, and the entire proce ss should be fully automated soon. All that is missing is an interface for a sample preparation-application module.
