Background: Pulmonary sequestration is not believed to be familial. We
report two male infants with this anomaly who were born to the same p
arents. Cases: The prenatal diagnosis of pulmonary sequestration was m
ade in a woman's two consecutive pregnancies by demonstrating systemic
arterial supply to an echogenic mass located in the left lower lung o
f each fetus. Postnatal radiographic evaluation confirmed the prenatal
diagnoses. Conclusion: Recurrent pulmonary sequestration in two male
offspring from the same parents raises the possibility of agenetic pre
disposition for this condition.
