Oa. Soboleva et Bd. Summ, INFLUENCE OF MICELLIZATION AND LOW CONCENTRATIONS OF SURFACTANTS ON THE CAPILLARY RISE OF AQUEOUS-SOLUTIONS, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 58(2), 1996, pp. 234-237
The capillary rise of aqueous solutions of various surfactants in glas
s capillaries was studied. It is shown that the concentration dependen
ce h(C) of capillary rise height h of the solutions of anionic and non
ionic surfactants correlates with the isotherm of surface tension sigm
a(C). Dependence h(C) for the solutions of cationic surfactants has a
plateau at C < CMC. The height of capillary rise of the solutions of c
ationic surfactants differs from h of water already at minute values o
f C. It is suggested that cationic surfactants are excessively concent
rated near the three-phase contact line.
