Vv. Dudnik, ELECTRICAL DOUBLE-LAYER IN CONCENTRATED ELECTROLYTE-SOLUTIONS - A SEMIEMPIRICAL APPROACH, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 58(2), 1996, pp. 267-269
A method is suggested that allows the ion distribution in the electric
al double layer to be described on the basis of a two-parameter Fermi
distribution with allowance for the excluded volume of ions with hydra
tion shell. This leads to a slower potential drop across the electrica
l double layer. Deviation from the Debye-Huckel equation become pronou
nced in the case of 1-1 electrolytes with concentrations C > 0.1 mol/l
and the surface potentials psi > 100 mV.
