Abstract
The optical absorption of the aurides M(3)AuO (M = K, Rb, Cs) and CsAu has been determinated by UV/VIS spectroscopy. The band gaps have been found to be 2,35(2) eV (Cs3AuO) and 2,30(2) eV (CsAu). This correspon ds to a more pronounced anionic character of gold in Cs3AuO as compare d to CsAu. In the case of K3AuO and Rb3AuO no band gap was detectable.
