Abstract
The quenching of the Weiss oscillation of magnetoresistance in a two-d imensional electron gas subjected to strong one-dimensional periodic p otential is calculated nonperturbatively using quantum transport theor y. The results are in good qualitative agreement with the experiment o f Beton et al. [Phys. Rev. B 42, 9229 (1990)]. The discrepancy between the classical calculation and the experiment is removed in our quantu m treatment.
