MODELING COMPLEX FORCE SYSTEMS .1. THE CUTTING AND PAD FORCES IN DEEPDRILLING

This paper is the first part of a two-part series which analyzes the c omplex force system existing within a deep hole drilling operation whe re cutting forces exist at a single cutting edge and burnishing and fr iction forces exist at two pads. In this first paper the forces at the pads and cutting edge are determined by (1) assuming that the pad for ces are related by coefficients and (2) by the use of complimentary dy namometers.
