A complete study of the ground-state and excited-state optical propert
ies of a donor-acceptor heterocomplex ZnP(N+C22)(4)/H(2)PcTS(4-), self
-assembled and organized in Langmuir-Blodgett films, is reported. Thes
e properties are probed at a molecular level and their relevance to th
e macroscopic photoelectrical and non-linear optical properties of the
materials is pointed out.
