The excess correlation factor delta g has been evaluated for a set of
binary mixtures of polar liquids (aniline, pyridine, N,N-dimethylanili
ne, methanol, 1-propanol, and 1-butanol) in the nonpolar solvent tetra
chloromethane. Also excess Gibbs energy of mixing between induced nonp
olar molecules (Delta G(AA)), between polar molecules (Delta G(BB)), a
nd between polar-induced nonpolar molecules (Delta G(AB)) has been eva
luated in these binary mixtures. delta g changes its sign in case of a
lcohols, aniline, and pyridine whereas it remains negative in case of
N,N-dimethylaniline. The results obtained through evaluation of Delta
G(AB) have been used to corroborate the findings on delta g. The chang
e of the sign of delta g is an indicator of the characteristic order-d
isorder phase transition in extremely dilute polar-nonpolar solutions.
