Abstract
One possible effect of managed health care may be the increased use of nomothetic outcome measurer, that ii, outcome measures that are utili zed across clients, regardless of diagnosis or identified treatment go als. It is argued here that such measures should be supplemented by ou tcome measures that are idiographic to particular diagnostic categorie s and/or to particular clients.
