Abstract
Three new pinguisane-type sesquiterpenes, 6 alpha-hydroxy-3-oxo-pingui s-5(10)-ene-11,6-olide, 6 alpha-methoxy-3-oxo-pinguis-5(10)-ene-11,6-o lide and 3-oxo-pinguis-5(10),6-diene-11,6-olide, together with pinguis one, have been isolated from axenic culture of the liverwort, Aneura p inguis. Their structures and relative stereochemistry were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic evidence and chemical transformation.
