Low-resolution IUE spectroscopy of V795 Her secured in 1992 August is
used to authenticate the presence of a approximately 4.86-h periodic v
ariation in the mainly wind-formed Si IV lambda 1400 and C IV lambda 1
549 resonance lines. The modulation is demonstrated to be coherent ac
ross a 3-yr time-span, and is discordant with the mooted orbital (opti
cal spectroscopic) period of approximately 2.60 h. Constraints are dis
cussed for some possible configurations of the system that introduce a
symmetries and can potentially yield modulated profile variability. Th
e first ROSAT X-ray detection of V795 Her is also described.
