Abstract
The esterification of various hydrophilic diols with fatty acids catal yzed by Lipolase(TM) was carried out in water-in-oil (w/o) microemulsi on systems stabilized with sodium(bis-2-ethylhexyl)sulphosuccinate (AO T) as surfactant in isooctane. Mono- and di-esters were selectively sy nthesized with high reaction rates. The product distribution depends o n substrates concentration. Microemulsions appear to be an effective a nd fast system for esterification of diols.
