Abstract
In aqueous medium perborate yields H2O2 The tungsten(VI) catalyzed oxi dation of I- is first order with respect to the oxidant and independen t of [H+] of the medium, and displays Michaelis-Menten dependence on [ W(VI)]. The oxidation is through two kinetic routes, one is independen t of [I-] and the other is first order with respect to I-. The mechani sm of catalysis is discussed.
