Abstract
The kinetic behavior of the adsorption of the egg albumin (EA) onto si lica was studied from its alkaline aqueous solution at room temperatur e. Various adsorption and kinetic parameters such as the adsorption co efficient, surface coverage (theta), and rate constants for adsorption and desorption were evaluated using different rate expressions. The a dsorption was found to increase on addition of H+ ions to the protein solution. It was also observed that the presence of inorganic salts an d cationic and anionic detergents influence both the adsorbed amount a nd the adsorption rate. The effect of temperature on the adsorption wa s also investigated. (C) 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
