DETERMINATION OF THE ION TRANSMISSION COEFFICIENT FOR A MASS-SPECTROMETER WITH A QUADRUPOLE ION ANALYZER

A method of ion transmission coefficient determination for transfer fr om the source, where ions are produced, to the collector of the electr on multiplier has been presented. In the measurements, the ions produc ed from He, Ne, CO, Ar and SF6 on bombardment by electrons with energy 80 eV were utilized. All measurements were performed at the same pres sure inside an ion source collision chamber. On the basis of the resul ts obtained, a practical formula enabling one to correct the values of the measured ion currents has been determined.
