Abstract
N,N'-Dimethyl-N,N'-diphenylguanidine (2a) and the corresponding guanid inium salt (2b) have crystal structures in which two phenyl groups are located face-to-face. Similar (cis, cis) conformations were also obse rved in various solvents. These structures may be useful as key buildi ng blocks to construct water-soluble aromatic layered molecules.
