Abstract
A copolymer of N-acryloylpyrrolidine (98.6%) containing the chromophor e 4-vinylpyridine dicyanomethylide (1.4%) was synthesized. Its interac tion with sodium dodecyl sulfate was investigated using a dodecyl sulf ate selective electrode and also monitoring changes in lambda(max) of the absorption band of the polymer. It was found that photocleavage of the yluric bonds of the chromophore are catalyzed by polymer bound su rfactant aggregates. There is also evidence of the polymer becoming su persaturated with surfactant before free micelles are formed in soluti on.
