Surface tension sigma of aqueous solutions of n-propyl alcohol was mea
sured in the temperature range between 278 and 303 K using Wilhelmy pl
ate method. The surface entropies and enthalpies are calculated. The r
esults are interpreted in terms of specific interactions of the hydrop
hobic parts of the molecules adsorbed at the interface and possible in
teraction of these molecules with the bulk. The results are compared t
o those obtained previously for water+tert-butanol solutions. (C) 1996
