While conducting doping experiments on the recently discovered enhance
d effective mass, coexistent antiferromagnetic-superconducting system
UNi2Al3, we have discovered several examples, in samples in which dopi
ng has suppressed the magnetic transition at 4.6 K, of unusual tempera
ture dependences of properties consistent with non-Fermi-liquid behavi
or. Since the other systems discovered to date [U0.2Y0.8Pd3, UCu3.5Pd1
.5, and possibly U(Pt0.94Pd0.06)3] with similar properties have simila
r (relatively weak) magnetic behavior, this may be an important clue f
or understanding, as well as for searching for other systems. Several
such systems are discussed, and preliminary results on doped UPd2Al3 a
nd URu2Si2 are discussed.
