Abstract
In this paper we use two inviscid models to study the interactions bet ween coaxial pairs of vortex rings. One model is based upon the thin-r ing approximation, the other is based upon a contour-dynamics approach . Predictions from the two models are in good agreement with one anoth er, and with earlier results obtained from numerical simulations of th e Navier-Stokes equations at high Reynolds number.
