Sv. Kessar, LEWIS-ACID COMPLEXED AZACARBANIONS - NOVEL REACTIVE INTERMEDIATES OF WIDE SYNTHETIC UTILITY, Pure and applied chemistry, 68(3), 1996, pp. 509-514
The concept of facilitating alpha-deprotonation of tertiary amines by
complexation with Lewis acids is described. Treatment of BF3-amine com
plexes with strong bases resulted in deprotonation at benzylic, allyli
c, vinylic, alpha-pyridyl and unactivated primary or secondary carbons
. Reaction with electrophiles afforded easy access to compounds with i
soquinoline, morphinane and quinuclidine frameworks.
