G. Pandey et al., DESIGN OF A PHOTOSYSTEM TO HARVEST VISIBLE-LIGHT INTO ELECTRONS - PHOTOSENSITIZED ONE-ELECTRON REDOX REACTIONS IN ORGANIC-SYNTHESIS, Pure and applied chemistry, 68(3), 1996, pp. 653-658
Based on synchronous oxidation-reduction processes, analogous to photo
synthetic mechanistic paradigm, a photosystem utilising Ph(3)P or asco
rbic acid as sacrificial electron donor has been developed to harvest
electrons from visible light photons. The utility of such photosystem
has been demonstrated by initiating various one-electron reductive -C-
C- bond formation reactions. Biologically active PGE(1) and C-Furanosi
des are synthesised employing this photosystem at a crucial step.
