The integrated nordic market has a long history, e.g. customs barriers
were removed a long time ago. The Nordic countries has also tradition
ally been well integrated with western Europe. Today there is a genera
l trend toward trade liberalisation, both globally and locally. In thi
s article the author discusses the nature of and the determinants of N
ordic trade. He also presents a model to be used when estimating the e
ffects from a European or from a global trade liberalisation on the tr
ade pattern of the Nordic countries.
