Abstract
A series of sodium cluster ions, such as Na+(NaCl)(n), Na+(HCOONa)(n) and Na+(HCOONa)(n1)(CH3COONa)(n2), were observed in electrospray mass spectrometry, These results support the electrophoretic separation mec hanism for excess ions at droplet surface, and the charged residue mod el for gas phase ion formation from highly-charged droplets.
