Abstract
In this study, patients with recurrent major depression were found to have significantly lower neuropeptide Y-like immunoreactivity (NPY-LI) in platelet-poor plasma (p < 0.01) and significantly higher NPY-LI in platelets (p < 0.001) compared to controls. Also, qualitative differe nces in the NPY-LI in platelet-poor plasma (PPP) and platelets were de tected when the samples were analyzed by HPLC followed by RIA of the c ollected fractions.
