Abstract
A 4.5-month-old female Dalmatian was presented for evaluation of episo dic dementia and circling. Serum sodium and chloride concentrations we re profoundly increased. Despite being alert, the dog exhibited no thi rst Exogenous ADH response testing suggested central diabetes insipidu s. Nuclear imaging of the cranial cavity and cisternal cerebrospinal f luid analysis were normal. Necropsy examination revealed an extensive malformation of the midline structures of the frontal lobes and rostra l diencephalon. A congenital abnormality is suspected.
