Abstract
The binary system Pb-Pd has been completely revised by DTA, XRD and EM PA on carefully annealed alloys (from 60 days at 1000 degrees C to sev eral months at lower temperatures). The solubility of Pb in Pd diminis hes from 16.6 at.% Pb at 1188 degrees C to 11.5 at.% at 300 degrees C. The observed intermetallic compounds are stoichiometric: PbPd3, Pb3Pd 5 (low-temperature form, stable up to 444 degrees C), Pb9Pd13, PbPd an d Pb2Pd. The high-temperature form of Pb3Pd5 is stable between 437 and 835 degrees C, shows a maximum extent from 61.2 at.% (614 degrees C) to 63.2 at.% Pd between 835 and 437 degrees C.
