An. Yevstropov et al., THERAPY OF EXPERIMENTAL HERPESVIRUS-INFEC TION WITH NONSTEROID ANTIINFLAMMATORY DRUGS, Voprosy virusologii, 41(2), 1996, pp. 66-70
The therapeutic effect of nonsteroid antiinflammatory drugs (pyrazolon
e and salicylate derivatives) and their combinations with acyclovir wa
s assessed in experimental herpesvirus infection in cell culture and i
n mice. A combination of 4-iodantipyrine and acyclovir protected mice
from herpesvirus encephalitis. This effect was associated with a decre
ase of the level of the virus in mouse brain and an increase of the ti
ters of serum interferon and virusneutralizing antibodies.
