Abstract
A number of 4-substituted pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidines <(1a-f)under bar> has been coupled with (2-acetoxyethoxy)methylbromide (2) under bar, u sing liquid-liquid and solid-liquid phase transfer catalysis. The infl uence of the solvent and catalyst has been studied. The N-1 isomers ha ve been regioselectively formed in a fairly good yields. All compounds <(4a-h)under bar> have been evaluated against HIV and various DNA vir uses and they have been found to be inactive.
