Abstract
New significant examples of layered metal chalcogenide materials with the tetragonal ThCr2Si2 type structure (S.G. 14/mmm), Ba(1-x)M(x)Cu(2) S(2) (M = K, x = 0.20; M = Rb, x = 0.15) and MCuMnS(2) (M = K, Rb) hav e been synthetized and characterized. In contrast to the stoichiometri c semiconducting parent compound BaCu2S2, these new compounds exhibit metallic properties which are explained in terms of band structure. A new isostructural compound Rb2Cu3FeS4 is also mentioned.
