Sg. Sandomirskii, EXPERIMENTAL-STUDY OF THE DISTRIBUTION IN A REMAGNETIZED STEEL CYLINDER, Russian journal of nondestructive testing, 31(7), 1995, pp. 542-547
The distinctive features of the remanence distribution as a function o
f the demagnetizing field strength have been studied in remagnetized s
teel cylinders. The result has confirmed that the surface layer of a c
ylinder underwent advanced demagnetization because of the internal clo
sure of the lines of force of magnetic flux, as determined earlier by
Yurovskii and Zatsepin along with Chernyshev. It was found that after
demagnetization in a stronger field the lines of force of the reverse-
magnetized portions are closed through the surface of the cylinder. Th
e core of the cylinder may remain magnetized in the initial direction
even when there are no external signs of this.
