Mms. Chin et al., UTERINE RUPTURE DURING LABOR IN A PRIMIGRAVIDA, Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 36(2), 1996, pp. 210-212
Uterine rupture ie extremely rare in the absence of any of the commonl
y recognized risk factors. We describe here a case of incomplete uteri
ne rupture in a woman in her first pregnancy who had no previous instr
umentation to the genital tract. Her only significant history was that
of 2 episodes of minor antepartum haemorrhage occurring prior to indu
ction of labour with artificial rupture of membranes and intravenous o
xytocin. The rupture was manifested by 450 mt blood in the peritoneal
cavity when an emergency Caesarean section was performed for persisten
t fetal bradycardia.
