This note contends that electronic dissemination will rapidly become t
he usual medium for esoteric publications. It is speedier, less costly
, and in many ways more convenient than the printed page. It also perm
its mote flexibility than the printed page with the possibility of inc
luding sound and moving images. Objections based on the need for refer
eeing and fear of plagiarism are unfounded. It is likely that electron
ic publication will alter the mission and perhaps viability of profess
ional organizations, but adaptations are possible which will lead asso
ciations to perform new tasks in different ways.
