Nachtsheim and Swigert have developed a very efficient shooting method
to solve the laminar boundary-layer equations of isothermal flows wit
h similar velocty profiles. In this work, we present an extension of t
his method for the solving of nonsimilar boundary-layer equations of t
wo-dimensional or axisymmetric external flow, with or without gas blow
ing and with or without pressure gradient. Variations of the two diffe
rent fluid properties in a nonisothermal Row are taken into account. T
he efficiency of the proposed method is verified for four examples of
laminar flows. A sample of the results for velocity, temperature and g
as concentration profiles, friction coefficient and heat transfer on t
he wall surface, is compared with the results available in literature.
