N. Hirai et al., DETECTION OF ANTIBODIES AGAINST BOVINE IMMUNODEFICIENCY-LIKE VIRUS INDAILY CATTLE IN HOKKAIDO, Journal of veterinary medical science, 58(5), 1996, pp. 455-457
Serological survey of bovine immunodeficiency-like virus (BIV) infecti
on was performed in cattle of 3 different farms in Hokkaido, where a r
elatively high seroprevalence was recorded for bovine leukemia virus (
BLV). About a half of 120 cattle tested were seropositive for BLV, whi
le 7.5% of the cattle were seropositive for BIV. Though increased numb
ers of leukocytes were frequently observed in BLV-seropositive cows, n
o such changes were observed in BIV-positive but BLV-negative cows. No
correlation was demonstrated between BIV- and BLV-seroprevalence of t
he cattle.
