Ma. Verastegui et al., ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF EXTRACTS OF 3 MAJOR PLANTS FROM THE CHIHUAHUAN DESERT, Journal of ethnopharmacology, 52(3), 1996, pp. 175-177
Dilution methods were employed to determine the effect of ethanolic ex
tracts of Agave lecheguilla Torr. (Agavaceae), Baccharis glutinosa Per
s. (Compositae) and Larrea tridentata (DC.) Cov. (Zygophyllaceae) on g
rowth of yeasts, molds and bacteria. The three extracts analyzed showe
d good antimicrobial activity against more than one organism. The mini
mal inhibitory concentration of the extracts was also determined.
