Abstract
Short chain aliphatic halocarbons (SCAHs) and semivolatile organic com pounds (SOCs) were analyzed in pine needles collected in the surroundi ngs of a metal scrap plant. SCAHs were determined by purge and trap GC /MS and SOCs by dual column GC/ECD. Statistics were used to estimate t he effect of metal reclamation on the concentrations of these compound s in pine needles. Pearson correlations and principal component analys is showed that PCBs, DDE and lindane originated from the metal scrap p lant. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
