REINVESTIGATION OF AMARYLLIS-BELLADONNA

A multidimensionally coupled screening system based on reversed-phase high performance liquid chromategraphy/normal-phase automated multiple development with ultra violet and mass spectral detection has been fu rther improved regarding the achievable peak capacity. This optimized method was used to reinvestigate the phytothemistry of Amaryllis bella donna and led to the identification of nine additional alkaloids, name ly anhydrolycorin-7-one, 6-OH-buphanisine, 6-OH-crinine, crinine, gala nthine, hippadine, ismine, pratorimine and pratosine which are describ ed for the first time in the title plant.
