Comb polymers with structural repeating unit (SRU) backbones, star pol
ymers with discrete centers, and discontinuous linear polymers (i.e.,
polymers containing ''spacer units'') contain nonpolymeric moieties, c
alled multiple radicals or multiradicals, that join the polymeric sequ
ences. Computer-stored structures of these types of polymers in SCION,
a DuPont proprietary chemical database, now include multiradicals as
part of polymer structure records, and they are fully searchable polym
er components. Rules for their orientation and nomenclature are presen
ted.
