Abstract
The photophysics of styrene clusters with trimethylamine were studied in a supersonic jet using laser induced fluorescence and multiphoton i onization. Two 1:1 adducts were identified, both of which are found to emit exciplex-type emission. The emission intensity strongly depends on the internal energy of the adducts: in one species it is most inten se near the origin, while in the other, locally excited fluorescence i s observed near the origin, and the exciplex-type appears only upon vi brational excitation. A model proposed for the system's energetics is found to be in good agreement with the experimental data.
