Reaction of equimolar amounts of Fe-2(CO)(9) and SiPhH(3) yields the t
riply bridged diiron complex [(OC)(3)Fe](2)(mu-SiPhH)(2)(mu-CO) (1a).
The analogous reaction of Fe-2(CO)(9) and SiPh(2)H(2) provides the sin
gly bridged diiron complex OC)(4)Fe-Fe(CO)(3)(SiHPh(2))](mu-eta(2)-H-S
iPh(2)) (4). When 4 is photolyzed for 12 h, the complex [(OC)(3)Fe](2)
(mu-eta(2)-H-SiPh(2))(2) (5) is obtained. Both 4 and 5 exhibit agostic
Fe-H-Si interactions. Reaction of Fe-2(CO)(9) or Fe(CO)(5) with the d
isiloxane Ph(2)HSi-O-SiHPh(2) gives the singly bridged diiron complex
[(OC)(4)Fe](2)(mu-eta(2)-Ph(2)-Si-O-SiPh(2)) (6). All compounds have b
een characterized by H-1, C-13, and Si-29 NMR and IR spectroscopy. Com
pounds 4-6 have been characterized by X-ray crystallography.
