Abstract
Pregnancy and the postpartal period are a time of immunosuppression. T he normal immunosuppression that occurs during the puerperium may be a ggravated by stress. Normal mechanisms of immunosuppression are discus sed, and the research related to stress and childbearing is examined i n this article.
