An investigation has been made of the influence of additions of an ole
fin (Ol) (nonene, cyclohexene) on the kinetics of consumption of ethyl
benzene hydroperoxide (EBHP) in the presence of a complex molybdenum-c
ontaining catalyst (CMC). It has been shown that, despite the change i
n the activity of the catalyst in the decomposition reaction under the
influence of the epoxidation products, the three routes of EBHP consu
mption that were found earlier are maintained. The presence of monomer
ic and oligomeric forms of the catalyst must also be taken into accoun
t in the modelling of epoxidation. (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd. All
