Y. Kameda et al., ANNULOPLASTY FOR SEVERE MITRAL REGURGITATION DUE TO DILATED CARDIOMYOPATHY, The Annals of thoracic surgery, 61(6), 1996, pp. 1829-1832
We present a 74-year-old woman who underwent corrective annuloplasty f
or severe mitral regurgitation due to dilated cardiomyopathy. Postoper
atively, congestive heart failure improved, with her New York Heart As
sociation status changing from IV to II, although her cardiac function
al improvement was minimal. Severe mitral regurgitation may be the ind
ication for annuloplasty in symptomatic patients with dilated cardiomy
opathy when cardiac transplantation is not indicated.
